As a way of slowing down the posting about the end of the dollar here is an interesting health insurance article I found.
Blue Cross Blue Shield has like 90% of the individual health insurance market in Florida. They would probably have a higher percentage of group health insurance too but their prices are just too high. They could lower them but what for? They make way more money with their individual health product which is only for healthy people. Group health insurance has no underwriting as they have to take everyone.
The key to fostering competition in health care would be to first yank some of these non profit tags from companies like Blue Cross who are more profit oriented then Wall Street in many cases.
