The New Miami Dade Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan

We are currently in the middle of the product launch for the new Miami Dade Blue Cross plan. In the meantime the plan which began on July 1st is one of the most comprehensive plans offered in Miami-Dade and has a very strong network. Currently over 1500 physicians have enrolled in the plan and we expect them to continue to add providers and hospitals in the area. The deductible is only $250 per year and the coinsurance is 90% up to an annual out pocket maximum of $2500 total. After that ceiling (or moop maximum out of pocket) the coverage is 100%. There is no brand name drug coverage although all generics are covered with a very low copay. Currently, you still have to qualify medically for the plan and it is only available if you live in the Miami-Dade area.

The average rate for the plan for a 35 year old male and female is barely over $100 and we have every indication from both Blue Cross and Miami Dade County that they intend to leave the premiums this low. There is only one plan option which is described above and this is one of the most straight forward plans we’ve ever seen come out of the health insurance industry.
